Bureau of Statistics has been releasing Development Statistics of Sindh since 1971. The present issue is the latest in the series to the year 2001. It cover available Statistics on almost all the socio-economic sectors of the province upto the year 1999-2000. The information relating to National Accounts, Banking and Foreign Trade has been given at national level. A statistical abstract showing comparative picture of Pakistan and Sindh has also been given in the beginning of the publication.

It is hopped that data contained in this publication will be of immense use to administrators, planners, policy makers, research scholars and other users.

The co-operation extended by various Government Department, Autonomous bodies and Corporations functioning at Federal and Provincial levels in providing data is gratefully acknowledged.

I would like to place on record my appreciation for the hardwork put in by the officers particularly Mr. Maqbool Khan, Assistant Director for collection, compilation, tabulation, checking/setting of data as well as co-ordinate the computerization of publication and Mr. Shahid Iqbal Qureshi, Key Punch & Verification Operator for developing database.
